Effective 6 November 2026 · Browser edition

The Book of Worlds is published by Tony Farley. The support and privacy contact is tonyfarley@mac.com. This notice covers the browser edition, separately from the iPad app.

Free access and local progress

The full illustrated book and included atlas content are free in this website edition. There is no website account, payment system, subscription or cloud synchronization.

The atlas uses browser-local storage for visited worlds, reading position, selected observing location and preferences. These records stay in the browser profile; the website has no account service to sync them to another browser or app. Clearing site data or using private browsing can remove or limit saved progress.

Optional observing location

Use my location asks the browser for device location only when you choose that action. The atlas uses the selected place for local sky calculations and saves it in browser storage. City search uses the included city catalog; manual coordinates are also available. The atlas does not send the chosen observing coordinates to an app-operated account or sky-calculation server.

Choose Forget saved location to clear the stored observing place. Browser settings control location permission and site storage. Your browser and operating system may use their own location services to fulfill a location request.

Hosting, network information and cookies

The website is hosted by Vercel. Loading pages and assets sends network requests to Vercel, which processes traffic information including an IP address, approximate location derived from that address, and browser or system information. This helps deliver, operate and protect the website. See Vercel’s Privacy Notice for its information handling.

Hosting and security services can retain operational records and may use cookies or similar technologies. This notice does not promise that requests are unlogged or cookie-free, or set a fixed retention period for provider records. Browser settings let you manage cookies and other site data; limiting storage can affect saved preferences. The atlas itself uses local browser storage for the progress and preferences described above.

Optional images and external links

Many images are included in the website’s own assets. Selecting an uncached galaxy image can request it from Legacy Surveys. The image URL identifies an astronomical sky field, not the observer’s saved GPS coordinates. The image service receives normal request information, including an IP address and the requested resource. The publisher has not independently verified the image service’s logging and retention schedule; image requests should not be considered anonymous or unlogged. You can avoid those requests by not opening optional online galaxy images.

Research and credit links take you to external sites, whose privacy practices and cookies apply to those visits. Website loading and any ordinary browser cache are separate from an offline-installed app; offline web caching has not been implemented.

Sound, advertising and analytics

Ambient music and interface sounds play in the browser, subject to its user-interaction requirements. Recorded book narration is not offered as an active website feature.

The website’s atlas has no publisher-added advertising or third-party analytics integration. Hosting and security providers can process service information as described above.

Support email

Choosing the email link opens your mail application; this website has no contact form. If you email tonyfarley@mac.com, Tony Farley receives your email address, message and attachments through email services and uses them to understand and reply to your request. Please omit passwords, payment details and unnecessary personal location information.

This notice does not specify a fixed retention period for support correspondence. Contact the same address with questions about your correspondence or to request its removal. Email and hosting providers manage their own records; clearing your browser storage does not remove those records.
